Sample Programs

Video game scores make rich additions to your concert programs. In addition to the writing itself, their source material offers a variety of thematic threads to weave into your program such as the source game's dramatic themes, specific events accompanied by the score, leitmotifs of beloved characters, and the stunning visual artwork they represent.

Still not sure how this might work? Check out these sample programs combining VGM with classical favorites:

Appalachian Spring & Hollow Knight

With the adventurous themes of Coleridge-Taylor’s Nonet, this musical journey contrasts darkness with light, despair with hope, creating a rich auditory experience that celebrates determination, silent strength, and the reward of life’s simple joys.

Barber's Adagio & Winter's Journey

The orchestrations of Journey sway between the thrill of adventure and deep introspection. Mirage’s program was filled with pieces that capture the same: Barber’s Adagio, Jenkins’ Palladio, and the chilled beat of Woolf’s Native Tongues for beatbox flute and strings.

Hollow Knight x Shostakovich

Orchestrations from Hollow Knight paired with Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 2. While sharing a similar grit due to its setting in the ruins of a fallen kingdom, the former adds a levity that balances the gravitas of Shostakovich’s writing.
